Prevent Esophageal Diseases at the height of the Mountain

Unknown

Reach the height of the mountain may be fun and adrenaline. However, the higher you climb, will be a lot of threats and risks faced. One of the most feared of the climbers are, declining physical condition that causes altitude sickness.

"Altitude sickness is a disease that can arise when a person reaches a height of 2,500 meters up within one to five days," said Andrew Luks, MD, professor of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Washington.

One common problem according to Luks, is acute mountain sickness. "It's kind of a collection of symptoms such as headaches and some other problems such as vomiting, nausea, dizziness, headache, and severe fatigue," he explained.

Two other diseases, which are less common but serious nature, such as high altitude cerebral and pulmonary edema. Similarly, as quoted from Menshealth, Saturday (11/04/2015). The first is the problem of brain pembengkak. This causes your nervous system dysfunction important.

This problem will disrupt coordination system of the body, and you may have trouble walking. "If these conditions are not realized in time, people affected by these problems will be abnormally sleepy and could end up being in a coma," said Luks.

Meanwhile, pulmonary edema occurs due to a buildup of fluid in the lungs, which prevents oxygen from entering into your blood stream. "When someone is having edema, they will run out of breath longer than imagined. They also will have trouble doing simple activities," said Luks.

According Luks, this simple cause altitude sickness, which is when we climb too high in quick time. Low oxygen levels make your body needs to adapt. If you climb too fast, chances are your body will not respond to changes correctly.

If you spend a lot of time to sleep near the summit, the risk of this disease will be greater. That's why Luks said that the trip to spend more than one day at a height of 2,500 meters above can be risky.

"Climb little by little after passing an altitude of 2,500 meters during the day could be considered better. But select an area with a lower height for camping at night," Luks advice.

If at any time you realize your breath more problematic than you can tolerate, or you start to lose coordination, come down quickly. Descend to a lower altitude can be the best treatment for altitude sickness.

If you feel there is no time to get used to the altitude, ask your doctor to prescribe acetazolamide respiratory stimulant, which can help you adjust to an environment of low oxygen levels.
